Product description
The Ortles Axe from Salewa is a lightweight and durable ice axe with a shovel, designed for use on glacier walks and ski tours. With its long, securely anchored steel pick and its lightweight, straight shaft, this axe performs well in hard snow and glacial ice. The lightly preformed steel blade, with its slender tip, offers excellent precision. Meanwhile, the wide shovel ensures efficiency in the snow – it sits comfortably in your hand and makes digging steps or building firn anchors a breeze.
In addition, the lightweight aluminium shaft is well-balanced and helps your ascent on icy and snow-covered slopes. At its lower end there is a pointed steel spike, which provides ideal support and turns the Ortles ice axe into a traditional Alpine walking pole.
