Extremely lightweight 3-person tent for trekking and bikepacking

The Mira III HL 3-person tent from Exped is designed for two to three people and offers 3.5 m² of sleeping space in a 215 x 160 cm format. With an interior height of 115 cm, the tent offers comfortable headroom. Two side vestibules, each 77 cm deep and adjacent to the two lengthwise entrances, provide ample storage space. If required, however, the inner tent can also be pitched without the outer tent and can thereby be used as a free-standing mosquito tent.

To make the Mira III HL 3-person tent extra lightweight, Exped uses 10D ripstop nylon with silicone and PU coating as the outer material. In addition, the inner tent uses 15D ripstop nylon with 15D no-see-um mosquito netting and DWR treatment. Combined with the lightweight and durable DAC Featherlite NFL TH72M poles with a thickness of 8.7 mm and 9.6 mm, the entire tent weighs just 1550 g. Shared between each hiker or cyclist, that would be an ultra-light 500 g in luggage.

The groundsheet of the Mira III HL is also made from lightweight 20D Ripstop Nylon and features a hydrostatic head of 1500 mm thanks to its silicone and PU coating. To give the tent floor extra protection from damage and to ensure enhanced waterproofing even in intense wet conditions, Exped recommends the separately available footprint for the Mira III HL. This lightweight groundsheet weighs 210 g, so the total weight is still well under 2 kg.
