Product description
Advance resistance for climbing with a large weight difference
The Ohm from Edelrid is a device that allows you to belay much heavier people in lead climbing. To achieve this, the Ohm with an inserted rope is hooked into or instead of the first quickdraw sling, which allows it to serve as a ballast resistor. Plus, the Ohm neither increases friction during normal rope feed in lead climbing, nor does it negatively affect paying out the slack. Only in the event of a fall is the braking effect of the device activated, therefore helping the belayer to break the fall of a person who weighs up to twice as much them safely.
Extra safety thanks to increased braking pressure
The Ohm increases the braking pressure and was primarily designed for use in the hall, as well as for sport climbing out on the crag. As a result, the device acts as a brake booster so that rope partners of very different weights can reach the limit of their fall without having to fear that the belaying person may not be able to hold them, or may even be pulled into the wall themselves.
Info: The Ohm comes with a quickdraw, but directly on the Ohm there is no snapgate carabiner, but rather a maillon screw link.
Note: Recommended weight difference (climber & belayer): 10 - 40 kg. Minimum weight of belayer: 40 kg.
The advantages at a glance:
- Enables the lead belaying of significantly heavier persons
- Braking pressure only sets in during the fall
- Normal climbing and belaying is not restricted
- Includes snapgate carabiner, quickdraw and screw link
