Admittedly, the climbing hammer has become a rarer sight. But anyone who let's themselves in for adventurous alpine tours or endlessly long big wall tours can't do without the Hudson Hammer by Edelrid. The climbing hammer is ideally suited to hammering in pitons. The hickory wood of the shaft is particularly resilient and allows for impact with little vibration.The hammer has a hook nose to remove pitons and a loop through which the piton can be secured with an accessory cord. After all, it would be unhelpful if the climbing piton, after being strenuously worked out of the rock, were then to follow gravity and fall down towards the base of the wall. To prevent the Hudson hammer from heading this way itself, there's an integrated leash including a carabiner.
